And another thing
Who knows how to get all these horrid ads off my page? And the text-enhanced script? I'm not making any money off these ads, so I don't want anyone subjected to them. Suggestions?

Glad you're back. Looking forward to reading about the best thing every day.
You've selected a theme made by the company Pyzam, which is why your background image has their logo throughout, and also the text ad at the top. You can get rid of it by selecting a new theme or by following the instructions in this vid. This vid is outdated a bit, in the new blogger go to Template, then Edit HTML.
